Dynamic response time is an important characteristic for determining the performance of MR damper in practical engineering applications. Dynamic response time is closely related to the driving electronics. Compared with voltage driver, a current driver can dramatically reduce the transient response time of the MR damper electromagnetic coil current. Based on the method of PWM, a current driver was designed for automobile MR damper. Experimental results show that the designed current driver is linearly controllable. Its output current can be varied between O A and 2.5 A continuously. The response times of the current driver under activation and deactivation are about 3.10 ms and 13.20 ms respectively.
