A Day No Pigs Would Die is Robert Newton Peck’s semi-autobiographical tale of a boy’s struggle with adolescence and the responsibility of manhood.Peck’s parents were farmers and members of the Shaker church,and they taught Peck the Shaker Way.The Shaker religion plays a large part in Peck’s writing,and the mood of many Shaker tenets permeates through the novel.The purpose of this paper is to analyze the hero Robert how to form a healthy and positive life attitude under the influence of his father,Haven Peck,who believes in the shakers.
