A research on the spatial query method based on the combination of direction and distance relations

A spatial model that is a combination of direction and distance relationships is established, which is adding the distance relationship into the direction relationship based on Star Model; Combining features of the new model, a QIR-tree index structure based on QR-tree is proposed. The query arithmetic based on the new model and QIR-tree index structure is carried out. Basing on the tests results, experiments show that the query method based on the combination of direction and distance relationships is saving I/O time and higher efficient.
