Numerical analysis of drag reduction with longitudinal riblets

摘要

Based on the Baldwin-Lomax two-layer turbulent model, the flow on the longitudinal V-shaped riblets was analyzed with finite difference method. The characteristics of drag reduction for the V-shaped riblets were studied and the design specification with optimal efficiency of drag reduction was proposed. The results of the analysis have shown that when the tilting angle is approximately equal to 60° and the range of the nondimensionless rib height is within 5-10, the drag reduction is maximum, which could reach as high as 11%.
