有关“天鹅”的英译

<正>大家都知道天鹅的英文是swan,不过雄天鹅、雌天鹅和小天鹅在英文中都有其专用词。公天鹅是cob,母天鹅是pen,幼天鹅是cygnet。有趣的是,母天鹅和笔都是pen。天鹅的领域意识很强,特别是4—6月育雏期间,只要你一靠近,天鹅爸爸就会来攻击你(The males are fierce in defending their nests, especially during the spring nesting season-April to June)。在英国这个季节的池塘、溪流边,常会看到有"天鹅育雏,请勿走近"(Nesting Swans, Very Aggressive, Stay Away)这类警告牌。
