摘要

The dynamic tension experiments of a typical bulk metallic glass (BMG), Zr41.2Ti13.8 Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5 (Vit1), at room and high temperatures were conducted to research the relationship between the mechanical properties of BMGs with ambient temperature. It is found that the dynamic tension fracture strength of Vit1 BMG reduces with the increase in ambient temperature (ambient temperature>150 °C), and the ambient temperature rise has a significant softening effect on the material. It is suggested that the generation and development of shear bands in Vit1 samples during fracture process are induced by the voids that are generated by free volume, and the rising temperature softens the materials and reduces their viscosity, therefore affecting the fracture strength of material.
