摘要

Titanium powder is typically sintered in high vacuum to achieve high density and low oxygen. Sintered materials usually have coarse grain size or coarse lamellar structure if it is the Ti6Al4V alloy. A novel processhydrogen sintering and phase transformation (HSPT)for sintering Ti in hydrogen is studied in this paper that can produce near-fully dense (>99%CP-Ti, >98%Ti6Al4V) Ti materials with very fine grain size (<1.0 mu m) in as-sintered state. This presents a potential opportunity for low cost manufacturing of powder metallurgy Ti materials with superior mechanical properties.
