The present study aimed to develop a quantitative method for the detection of chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV). A real time polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR) was developed to determine CIAV. The developed real-time PCR was a rapid and reliable quantitative technique for CIAV DNA compared with the conventional PCR. The appropriate cut-off was at the 40th cycle. Results indicated that the C-T value of 39.62 was shown at the 10(-9) dilution or 0.454 fg/mu l or 3.86 x 103 DNA copies. This data suggests that the limit of detection for real-time PCR is 0.454fg/mu l. The quantitative real-time PCR will be useful for studying CIAV pathogenesis and determining the viral yield.d
