摘要

A new method for the production of nano-sized materials is presented. The method consists in a co-deposition of parylene monomer molecules and metal atoms. The monomer molecules are deposited by the Gorham CVD process, while contemporary deposition of metal atoms is obtained by plasma sputtering. Successful metal incorporation is shown by Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry, while Fourier transform infrared analysis and X-ray diffraction highlight that metal species are embedded in a parylene matrix. As a first example of the capabilities of this new method, a new hybrid material with antimicrobial properties has been achieved, as shown by the results of tests with two different bacteria.
