摘要
3D visualization of multivariate data is of great importance in many scientific disciplines especially while analyzing information from a macro point of view. However, visualization of a large number of special multivariate volume data is a very challenging task. In this paper, we propose a method to present several kinds of data at the same time. Texture generated by the Gabor noise function is mapped onto transparency to make internal data visible. We show the practicability of our approach through visualizing hurricane Isabel data, and its effectiveness is approved while comparing with normal direct volume rendering method and some other visualization techniques. Furthermore, we evaluate our approach through user study. Overall, the result of our study point that users get more accurate judgment while using our novel volume rendering technique. High subjective ranking implies that our method is an important step in the challenge of visualization of multivariate data.
