A Uniform Noise Median Filter Based on a New Type of Filtering Window

In this paper, we propose a new uniform noise filter algorithm that both removes noise effectively and preservers the details of the image. Our algorithm is based on the tri-state median filter found in [1]. A new type of filtering window is proposed which is the border frame A 3x3 window can contain many noisy pixels on high noise density. We use the outer border of a 5x5 window to detect noise that is undetectable by many other noise filters. Simulations show that our algorithm outperforms other recent proposals.
