A 2.4GHz Low Noise High Linearity RF Front-end Design

摘要

A 2.4 GHz low power, low noise, SAW-less, high linearity RF receiver front-end was designed for wireless communication. By adopting low noise variable gain TCA (Transconductor Amplifier), 25% duty cycle LO (Local Oscillator) current conveyor passive mixer and TIA (Transimpedance Amplifier), the receiver has the features of low noise, high linearity, and variable gain. Due to the IIP2 calibration and the passive mixer, the voltage amplitude and the non-linearity were reduced. Tested 2.4 GHz RF front-end gain is 45dB and noise figure is 2dB. The IIP3 and IIP2 are -7dBm and + 72dBm and power consumption is 24mA@1.2V. This chip is fabricated in 0.13 mu m RF CMOS process and the area of the proposed front-end is 0.54 mm(2) and the total transceiver area is about 6.4 mm(2).
