A facile one-step catalytic synthesis of biphenyl phosphanes by Suzuki coupling

The straightforward one-step synthesis of a series of biphenyl phosphanes of type Fc(2-n)Ph(n)P(C(6)H(4)Ar) (Ar = C(6)H(5), C(6)H(4)-4-Me, C(6)H(3)-2-Cl-5-CF(3), C(6)H(4)-4-OMe, C(6)H(4)-2-OMe; Fc = (eta(5)-C(5)H(4))(eta(5)-C(5)H(5))Fe: n = 2, 1, 0) by the catalytic reaction of Fc(2-n)Ph(n)P(C(6)H(4)Br) with diverse boronic acids (HO)(2)BAr in presence of low [(dppf)PdCl(2)] (dppf= 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene) catalyst loadings with no need of phosphorus protection is reported.
