摘要

Background: Exercise is the intervention with the highest level of evidence on efficacy for treatment of chronic low back pain, with a higher benefit in terms of pain and function compared to any other intervention. A wide variety of exercises programs have been designed; however, "lumbar stabilization exercises" have become increasingly popular among clinicians who are in contact with spine diseases. However, there is controversy regarding the adequate prescription and there are multiple protocols.
The aim of this literature review is to analyze the information about these exercises to promote better decision-making among clinicians and design the best program for each patient.
Conclusion: We found the program an essential tool in the treatment of low back pain in both therapeutic and preventive phases.
