The title compound, C18H17N3OS, was synthesized by the reaction of 5-m-tolyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine and 3,5-dimethylbenzoyl chloride. Molecules of the compound are linked by intermolecular N-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds to form centrosymmetric dimers.
