Aquadipyridinebis(N-p-tolysulfonyl-L-leucinato)nickel(II)

In each of the two molecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ni(C13H18NO4S)(2)(C5H5N)(2)(H2O)], the geometry of the Ni2+ ion is an extremely distorted trans-NiN2O4 octahedron, arising from its coordination by one water molecule, two pyridine molecules, and one O-monodentate and one O, O'-bidentate deprotonated N-p-tolysulfonyl-L-leucine ligand. In the crystal, molecules are linked by N-H center dot center dot center dot O and O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the c axis. An intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond occurs in one of the molecules.
