摘要

Recently in automobile industry, the material change of wiring harness from copper to aluminum, the specific gravity of aluminum is 1/3 of that of copper, has been under consideration to reduce weight and to improve fuel efficiency. High ductility is required for the wiring harness to make it possible to arrange equipment efficiently in the limited space, because automobile interior space is expanding while the automobile body is downsizing year by year. In this study, a new drawing method "alternate drawing", alternately the direction of drawing in each process, was proposed to get aluminum wires with high ductility for wiring harness, and usability was examined experimentally and by FEM analysis. It is found from the FEM analysis that the alternate drawing reduces the additional shear strain on wire surface by nearly 20% and produces wires with larger extensibility compared to the one processed by conventional drawing. In addition, it was clarified that alternate drawing is useful for the drawing of aluminum wire for wiring harness.
