摘要

In many sensitive engineering and research applications, noise and vibration free environment is required for precise measurement and control of measuring parameters. Such environments need special design care to minimize extraneous noise. Often, such facilities are founded on specially isolated floors and platforms, and the supply lines to such facilities are facilitated through hoses. When experiments with lasers are involved, tolerance to disturbance reaches down to sub micron levels. The issue related to isolation efficiency of the hoses acting as supply line to the sensitive facility involving laser experiments is reported in this note. Generally, literature in the area of isolating vibration and noise and the associated damping address just around fixed frequencies. There is very little information on isolation over a broader frequency range as demanded in the case reported here. This work addresses an experimental assessment of isolation efficiency over a broader frequency range for such components based on a simple definition of isolation efficiency.
