The title compound, [Cu2Mo12O40P(C12H8N2)(4)], was obtained by the hydrothermal reaction of Na2MoO4 center dot 2H(2)O, Cu(CH3-COO)(2)center dot H2O, NH4VO3, 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and H3PO4. The structure determination shows that two {Cu(phen)(2)} fragments are supported by the reduced alpha-Keggin polyoxoanion [(PMo11MoO40)-Mo-VI-O-V](4-) through a terminal O atom and a bridging oxygen atom from opposite sides of the Keggin structure.
