摘要

Volume rendering is an important issue in the field of images visualization, which can display the details of the volume data intuitively. With the increasing requirements on the visualization of the complex 3D data and the flexibility of transfer function design, recently transfer function has become a research hotspot. Since the quality of medical or industrial volume data such as engine data which are acquired by CT and MRI devices is impacted by noisy seriously, in this paper, we proposed an uniform neighborhood based pre-identifying method to distinguish boundary voxels from the inner voxels exactly, followed by the construction of 2D histogram based on boundary voxels to design the transfer function. We applied the method on the volume data and use ray-casting algorithm to render them. Due to the suppression of the disturbance of noise, rendering quality of 3D volume data is improved. Furthermore, since false identification of boundary voxels is effectively avoided, the time for searching boundaries can also be reduced.
