In this paper we consider the following Timoshenko system %26lt;br%26gt;phi tt - (phi(x) + psi)(x) = 0, (0, 1) x R+ %26lt;br%26gt;psi(tt) - psi(xx) vertical bar phi(x) vertical bar psi vertical bar integral(t)(0) g(t - tau)psi(xx)(tau)d tau = 0, (0, 1) x R+ %26lt;br%26gt;with Dirichlet boundary conditions where g is a positive nonincreasing function satisfying %26lt;br%26gt;g%26apos; (t) %26lt;= - H(g(t)) %26lt;br%26gt;and H is a function satisfying some regularity and convexity conditions. We establish a general stability result for this system.
