摘要
We describe a versatile acoustic resonator that can be built by an undergraduate student and used to demonstrate several concepts of the kinetic theory of gases and wave mechanics. Although simple, the apparatus has a very high Q-factor. Because of this high Q-factor, the error in measuring the Boltzmann constant is limited by the accuracy of the effective length of the resonator. The closed geometry of the resonator allows the use of different types of pure gases as well as measurements of the concentration of binary mixtures of known gases.
