摘要

The development of a low temperature process for the fabrication of a photoanode for dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) is essential for producing flexible photovoltaic devices. This study aims to optimize the ultraviolet (UV) treatment process for fabricating a high performance photoanode. An indium tin oxide substrate is used as an electrode material, which is used widely for flexible substrates. The UV treatment does not affect the crystalline structure and crystallinity of the TiO2 layer. Therefore, the diffusion coefficient of the photo-generated electron does not change remarkably with the duration of UV treatment. On the other hand, the organic binding materials are removed more effectively when the duration is longer. This effective removal of organic materials leads to an increase in the lifetime of the photo-generated electrons. As a result, the photovoltaic performance tends to increase with increasing UV treatment duration due to the long diffusion length of an electron.
