摘要

Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) is spreading over the French territory and has become a public health issue. In order to reinforce coordination of the means of fighting against this annual plant, a source of allergenic pollen, the French Ministry of Health and the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (Inra) set up the French Ragweed Observatory in June 2011. The high adaptability of the plant and the difficulty of managing simultaneously its pollen (pollinosis) and its seeds (invasion) are largely responsible for the spread of the plant. The successful pooling of management actions and the suppression of practices that favor the spread of the species are necessary to prevent the situation from getting worse. While eradication of the species may be achieved in areas still only slightly affected, only partial control is possible in zones long overrun by this plant.
