Introduced three decades ago, laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) transformed refractive surgery. Now, a procedure called LIRIC a promising much less invasive approach that overcomes limitations of LASIK and its ilk-portends even broader adoption and is set to usher in a new era of vision correction.
