A phenyl imidazole dicarboxylate-based 3D terbium-organic framework for selective sensing of nitrobenzene

A novel lanthanide(III)-organic framework, {(Tb((3)-HPhIDC)((2)-C2O4)(0.5)(H2O))2H(2)O}(n) (1) (H3PhIDC=2-phenyl-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid) has been solvothermally synthesised and structurally characterised, which exhibits selective detection of nitrobenzene via a photoinduced electron transfer quenching mechanism. The high efficiency, stability and recyclability of 1 make it a potential chemosensor for nitrobenzene.
