摘要

The modification and refinement of Mg2Si phase is thought as one of the key aspects to improve the mechanical properties of Si-containing magnesium alloys. The paper investigates the as-cast microstructure and mechanical properties of Sr and Sb modified AZ61-0.7Si magnesium alloy. The results indicate that adding 0.4wt%Sb can result in the relative refinement of Chinese-script-shaped Mg2Si phases in the AZ61-0.7Si alloy, but the modification is not obvious. However, adding small amounts of Sr can obviously modify and refine the Chinese-script-shaped Mg2Si phases in the alloy. After added 0.03wt%similar to 0.09wt% Sr, the morphology of the Mg2Si phases in the alloy changes from the coarse Chinese script shape to fine granule and/or irregular polygonal shapes. Accordingly, the tensile and creep properties of the alloy are greatly improved.
