摘要

The agroecological movement in Brazil started with critiques of the impacts of agricultural systems based on the Green Revolution. The issue gained momentum in diverse social organizations, as nongovernmental organizations and environmental groups focused on awareness about alternative forms of agriculture. The environmental debate started with the first reports on the environmental impact of pesticides and the effects of the current agriculture model on different agroecological dimensions. Recently, agroecological movements in Brazil have gained momentum with creation of the Brazilian Society of Agroecology and the National Agroecology Alliance. Brazilian public policies encouraging social movements based on agroecological principles are discussed.
