摘要
Numerical simulation of borehole radar (BHR) is an efficient and economical method to verify its feasibility before applying it in subsurface imaging. We conducted a physical experiment by using a commercial BHR system in a borehole close to a limestone cliff and used the 2-D finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation to cross-check the observed features of reflection from the cliff wall. For a maximum distance between the borehole and cliff of about 10 m, the time delay of the cliff wall reflection appears at about 170 ns. The simulation agrees well with the experiment, and the accuracy can meet the need for imaging analysis.
