摘要

Intraoperative brain shift leads to a misalignment between the intraoperative positions of the brain structures and their previous positions determined from preoperative images. Biomechanical model is an effective method for prediction of brain tissue deformation and then decreases this misalignment. The key is to obtain an accurate boundary condition, i.e., accurate exposed brain surface deformation. In this paper, a sub-block based surface deformation tracking method was implemented. The point sets of brain surface before and after deformation were transformed to the same coordinate space, and then the sub-block based robust point matching method was used to obtain the mapping between two point sets. Experiment results show that this method can track the brain surface deformation accurately. The biomechanical model using the tracked deformation is capable of correction for much of brain deformation, and then decreases the misalignment between the intraoperative brain positions and preoperative images.
