Considering that the multiple antenna configurations in transmitter and receiver of MIMO (multi-input multi-output) system can improve the transmission reliability and channel capacity exponentially, and antenna selection algorithm can retain the advantages of MIMO system and reduce the implementation complexity and hardware cost, in order to quickly select the antenna subset from the changeable channel environment, a new fast joint transmitting and receiving antenna selection algorithm was presented. Based on binary particle swarm algorithm (BPSO), channel capacity expressed by binary coded string was used to reduce the computational complexity. By employing cyclic shift population initialization, the improvement of search efficiency and higher channel capacity was obtained. The results show that the new algorithm can reduce the computational complexity and obtain higher channel capacity than other sub-optimal algorithms.
