摘要

The occurrence of bubbles in samples to be characterised by rotational rheometry may lead to artefacts which can easily be misinterpreted. Exemplarily, a silicone resin is discussed which shows the formation of small bubbles near the interphase between the sample and the rheometer plate if the samples are not carefully dried before being installed in the rheometer. These small bubbles which can easily be overlooked lead to a bending of G%26apos; at low frequencies which was erroneously attributed to the molecular structure in the past. Therefore, even for hydrophobic polymers like the silicone resin, great care concerning bubbles has to be taken since water might be adsorbed on the surface and lead to artefacts which result in wrong conclusions.
