Measuring the electrical charge of magnetic vortices in type-II superconductors: experimental design and data analysis

A experimental scheme which is capable of measuring the electrical charge bound in the cores of vortices in type-II superconductors is described. The apparatus, measurement procedure, and data analysis, which should unambiguously distinguish the vortex charge signal from other physical effects, are presented along with a description of the calibration procedure which provides an absolute value for the vortex line charge density.
