A 3-local identification of two almost simple extensions of P Omega(+)(8)(2)

We provide 3-local characterizations of the almost simple groups P Omega(+)(8)(2).3 and P Omega(+)(8)(2).Sym(3). Both groups are examples of groups of parabolic characteristic three and we identify them from the structure of the centralizer of an element of order three.
