ECP as a protein mediator is well known for its role in IgE-related diseases. Despite early references in the scholarly literature on a correlation between ECP and the clinical disease activity in severe cases of atopic dermatitis, almost no data exists to evaluate a relation between these parameters for cases of mild atopic dermatitis. We therefore examined 26 of such cases on a relation between the clinical activity score and ECP-concentration, and indeed found such a relation between those parameters in many cases. All cases were evaluated at 3 consecutive times. The research question is: Could ECP be useful to improve the clinical compliance in cases of atopic dermatitis?
