The reaction of chromocene, Cp2Cr, with dilithiated 2,3-diphenyl-guanidine [(PhNH)(2)C=NH = L2H3] gives the novel, quadruply-bonded tetraanion [Cr-2((LH)-H-2)(4)](4-).
