摘要

In this letter, we introduce an innovative method for generating mappings of M-ary phase-shift keying (M-PSK) and M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) constellations for bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID). The proposed simple method not only yields mappings for higher order constellations efficiently but also outperforms previously reported mappings. Presented results show that, in Rayleigh fading channels, the proposed mapping can gain up to 4.4 dB for a target bit error rate (BER) of 10(-6), which is in the range of many practical interests over the binary switching algorithm mappings while it offers a comparable error floor. In AWGN channels, the gain is up to 5.8 dB.
