A novel method for computing users’trust propagation in social networks

Trust plays the most important role in promoting cooperation and interaction among users in social network, and reduces information overload, uncertainties and risk from unreliable users. In recent years, the trust and trust related issues in social network have been hot research directions. In this paper, we try to explore the mechanism of trust propagation based on the social trust of friends. Firstly, we give three definitions about social trust among friends in online social networks. Then, we propose a model for computing trust propagation among users connected indirectly through friends of friends. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments to evaluate our model using a real dataset. The results show our work can effectively calculate the improved value of popularity of nodes in the network through trust propagation.
