Amyloid beta (A beta) oligomer is a known causative agent of Alzheimer%26apos;s disease (AD). For early recognition of AD, development of an A beta oligomer detection system is vital. We developed a novel detection system using the molecular chaperone, Prefoldin (PFD), which can specifically interact with amyloid oligomers. A beta oligomer detection was achieved with a PFD-coated rnicroplate, following the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. The results suggest that this system specifically detects A beta oligomers at their physiological concentrations. The problematic nonspecific adsorption of A beta to the microplate can be effectively blocked with 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) polymer. This novel A beta oligomer detection method may be applied for AD early recognition.
