摘要

A novel time domain numerical method for calculating voltages and currents on both lossy and lossless transmission lines with an inhomogeneous substrate is presented. Equations for the voltage and current amplitudes, coincident in both time and spatial position, are developed using a time- domain propagator method. A technique for maintaining a constant time step as well as a fixed spatial grid size, through extrapolation in time, is provided. Numerical expressions are also provided for voltages and currents in lossy substrates, boundary conditions between two dielectrics and between a dielectric and a perfect conductor, an absorbing boundary condition and a numerical dispersion relation. Examples are presented for inhomogeneous transmission lines with multiple sections excited by both a Gaussian and a rectangular pulse. It is shown that the numerical time evolution of voltage pulses and computed reflection coefficients versus frequency agree with analytical calculations.
