In the title mononuclear copper( II) complex, [ Cu( C12H16N3O3)( NCS)( C2H3N)], the Cu II atom is five- coordinated in a square- pyramidal geometry, with one O and two N atoms of the Schiff- base ligand and one N atom of the thiocyanate ligand defining the basal plane. The apical position is occupied by the N atom of the acetonitrile molecule. The structure is stabilized by intramolecular C - H center dot center dot center dot N and intermolecular C - H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen- bonding interactions.
