摘要

Solid electrolyte type ammonia (NH(3)) gas sensors were fabricated by the combination of a trivalent Al(3+) ion conducting solid electrolyte ((Al(0.2)Zr(0.8))(20/19)Nb(PO(4))(3)) and rare-earth ammonium sulfate (R(2)(SO(4))(3)center dot(NH(4))(2)SO(4), (R = Ce, Pr, Sm)) as the auxiliary sensing electrode, and the ammonia gas detection performance was investigated. Sensors with rare-earth ammonium sulfate exhibited superior sensing performance with a stable, continuous, and reproducible response that obeys the theoretical Nernst relationship between the electromotive force output of the sensor and the logarithm of the NH3 gas concentration. Among the developed sensors, that with Ce(2)(SO(4))(3)center dot(NH(4))(2)SO(4) as the auxiliary sensing electrode showed the most rapid response for high temperature operation at 300 degrees C, due the high thermal stability of Ce(2)(SO(4))(3)center dot(NH(4))(2)SO(4).
