摘要

Definition of the problem Besides principal questions about scientific concepts, so-called individualized medicine (IM) raises ethical concerns. However, it is still unclear which methodological framework can be used to outline these ethical questions. Arguments This article proposes a methodological framework by discussing the model of first- and second-wave bioethics and adapting this model with regard to two concrete challenges of IM, namely (1) the relation of IM to %26quot;evidence-based medicine%26quot; and (2) the concept of a %26quot;person genetically at risk%26quot;. Conclusion By contextualising the debate about IM in the proposed way, socioethical issues (e.g., the problem of personal responsibility) can be addressed properly.
