A Review of Energy Recovery Circuits for Plasma Display Panels

Since 1987, energy recovery circuits (ERCs) for plasma display panels were proposed and have been evolving and changing continuously. A generic classification and systematic overview of various ERCs have been presented here. Along with the development of plasma display panels manufacturing technology, recent advances in developing ERCs have paved the way for simpler structure, lower cost, better performance, and higher efficiency. However, most of the works so far have not given an overall description related with ERCs for plasma display panels (PDPs). This work is intended to not only to provide insights into these energy recovery topologies, but also make a conclusion which identifies the developmental tendency of ERCs for PDPs.
