A New Computerized Tongue Diagnosis Method with Optimized Outline Extraction Algorithm Using HSV Color Model

摘要

Tongue diagnosis is a very important part in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It's a hotspot in image processing to extract features from tongue image for computer aided diagnosis. Most of existing methods use Snakes Active Contour Models to outline tongue. It depends on initial control points and cannot accurately adhere to real outline. Besides, tongue color features are rarely extracted while they are most important information utilized in tongue diagnosis. In this paper, we propose a new method using optimized The Canny algorithm with hue feature to outline tongue and then extracting tongue color features and making diagnosis. The method can outline tongue automatically and accurately, and extract tongue color features helping to make computerized tongue diagnosis.
