摘要

In China, literary criticism on Toni Morrison's Sula is characterized with the following aspects: The research on Sula has been continuously increasing; the application of critical theory and approach has demonstrated a diversified trend; the positive reception attitude towards Sula has taken the place of controversial attitude. These changes are due to three causes. Firstly, Sula itself is of great artistic tension. Secondly, readers as a whole have changed their aesthetic horizon of expectations. Thirdly, readers have different "question awareness" from before when studying text now.
