摘要

The main objective of hall acoustics is to find the key elements in the best designs that best suit the different uses. This involves finding the relationship between the acoustic properties of a hall and the opinions of experts or users. A subjective hall assessment ranking can provide optimal acoustic parameter intervals, and this is a procedure used by Beranek and other researchers [1] [2] throughout the history of acoustics. The possibility of obtaining a mathematical expression for an objective hall ranking has also been studied by Ando [3]. In his work Ando presented a complex system for predicting a subjective hall assessment; and this system was later studied and modified by Beranek [1] on the basis of his own technical calculations. This paper presents a statistical scheme to obtain an Ando-Beranek function fitted to the objective experimental data obtained from 17 halls used for different uses and of different sizes, building types, and acoustics. The halls were objectively ranked according to this function for classical music, and the ranking was found to usually coincide with the assessment given by users [4]. The obtained relationship between the acoustic parameters of the halls in the ranking could be used in the design, renovation, and improvement of halls.
