摘要

This paper generalizes the performance analysis of an adaptive coded modulation system operating on a single-input-multiple-output (SIMO) channel in our recent paper to include spatial correlation between the receive branches. First, the prediction procedure originally developed for a system with spatially uncorrelated branches is used in a correlated branch system. Then, an optimal "space-time predictor" is derived based on the assumption that the spatiotemporal correlation function of the data in the receiver branches is represented as a product of the individual spatial and temporal correlation functions, respectively. The pilot symbol interval and the power allocation scheme between pilot and data symbols are optimized under an average power constraint, such that the throughput is maximized while keeping the bit error rate below a predefined level. Numerical examples are given for Rayleigh flat fading subchannels with Jakes correlation profile.
