A Cup-like Structure: Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Anti-Cancer Activity of 2-(2-(4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)acetamido)ethyl adamantane-1-carboxylate

A new 4,5-diaryl-1H-imidazole compound, C30H33N3O3, was synthesized and then its crystal structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal symmetry is monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c, with a = 9.0395 (18) angstrom, b = 21.726 (4) angstrom, c = 13.042 (3) angstrom, alpha = 90 degrees, beta = 93.30 degrees (3), gamma = 90 degrees, V = 2557.0 (9) angstrom(3), Mr = 483.59, Z = 4. Data suggested the conformation of this compound was cup-like by generating centro-symmetric dimers through two N-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds interactions and intermolecular pi-pi interaction. The anti-cancer activity of this compound showed significant anti-cancer activity.
