Determination of vertical bar V-ub vertical bar from exclusive baryonic B decays

We use the exclusive baryonic Bdecays to determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element V-ub. From the relation vertical bar V-ub vertical bar(2)/vertical bar V-cb vertical bar(2) = (B-pi/B-D) R-ff based on B- -> p (p) over bar pi(-) and (B) over bar (0) -> p (p) over barD(0) decays, where vertical bar V-cb vertical bar and B-pi/B-D = B(B- -> p (p) over bar pi(-))/B((B) over bar (0) -> p (p) over barD(0)) are the data input parameters, while R-ff is the one fixed by the B -> p (p) over bar transition matrix elements, we find vertical bar V-ub vertical bar = (3.48(-0.63)(+0.87)+/- 0.40 +/- 0.07) x 10(-3) with the errors corresponding to the uncertainties from Rff,B-pi/B-D and vertical bar V-cb vertical bar, respectively. Being independent of the previous results, our determination of vertical bar V-ub vertical bar has the central value close to those from the exclusive (B) over bar -> pi l (v) over bar (l) and Lambda b -> p mu(-)(v) over bar (mu) decays, but overlaps the one from the inclusive (B) over bar -> X(u)l (v) over bar (l) with the current uncertainties. The extraction of vertical bar V-ub vertical bar in the baryonic Bdecays is clearly very useful for the complete determination of the CKM matrix elements as well as the exploration of new physics.
